I never met a tree I couldn’t climb.
Trees have always been a big part of my life because as far back as I can remember, they were my favorite playground.
When I got older and realized I could have a career working with trees, I only had one question. Where do I sign up?
That was 21 years ago, and it seems like yesterday. My first job was with a small company, and I got stuck doing all the grunt work. If there was a dirty job that needed doing, I was the one who did it.
The thing that kept me coming back wasn’t the paycheck because my paychecks were so small I could barely make ends meet. What kept me showing up was that I really loved the work.
Every day there were problems to solve, and that made work fun. No two trees are the same, and no two solutions are the same either. You really need to understand trees, or you’ll be making things worse, not better.
After 17 years of working for other people, it was time to start my own business. So far it’s been great because the phone keeps ringing and we keep growing.
A lot of people ask me how I came up with the name Clyde on account of my name’s Rick.
Well, that’s an easy one, and it all has to do with one of my favorite Clint Eastwood’s movies, Every Which Way But Loose.
That big orange orangutan gets me every time. When I told the marketing company I’d like to use one on my website, they looked at me like I was crazy, but I told them it wasn’t up for debate.
Don’t think for a second that cause we got a sense of humor, we don’t take our work seriously. Every day we go toe to toe with much bigger companies and come out on top.
If you’re in Clyde, I can’t tell you much, but I can tell you one thing for sure. We show up, get right to work, and do it t all for a fair price no matter how big or small your job is.
I could go on and on about how proud we are of our work, but that would get boring fast.
